Cédric Klapisch - Grand entretien

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Numeridanse platform, of which he is the sponsor, Laurent Goumarre interviewed Cédric Klapisch about his relationship to dance. The first shows he saw, the presence of dance in his films, his collaboration with the Paris Opera ... During a big interview, Cédric Klapisch talks about his passion for dance and the place that it holds in his work.

Klapisch, Cédric

French film director, born in Neuilly in 1961.
Following a Master’s thesis on Tex Avery and the Marx Brothers, Cédric Klapisch studied cinema at New York University (NYU) in 1983. On his return to France, he directed four short films, including the famous Ce qui me meut on Etienne- Jules Marey. His first feature film, Riens du tout, was nominated for the César awards in 1992. He then produced a TV drama for ARTE, Le Péril jeune, released on the big screen. This film, revealing Romain Duris, was a huge success with the public. He then produced more than ten feature films (Chacun cherche son chat, Un air de famille based on the play by Bacri and Jaoui, Ma part du gâteau, Paris and the trilogy consisting of L’Auberge espagnole, Les Poupées russes and Casse-tête chinois) as well as a number of documentaries including L’Espace d’un instant on the prima ballerina Aurélie Dupont, which was awarded a Fipa d’Or in 2010. His last film, Deux moi, was released in October 2019. His next film En corps will be released in March 2022.

Western classical dance enters the modernity of the 20th century: The Ballets russes and the Ballets suédois

If the 19th century is that of romanticism, the entry into the new century is synonymous of modernity! It was a few decades later that it would be assigned, a posteriori, the name of “neo-classical”.
