F.I.V.E
Julie Dossavi, a beauty hailing from Benin and an outstanding dancer, presents the solo “F.I.V.E.” It begins with the reading of the distressing letter discovered on the two Guinean children found dead in the landing gear of a plane in 1999. An extravagant deflagration, a dance attentive to the world.

Dossavi, Julie
From an athletic background (UEREPS with an option in contemporary dance), Julie Dossavi dances with Jean-François Duroure and Philippe Decouflé. She is an interpreter and assistant-choreographer with Kettly Noël, a dancer-interpreter with Salia Ni Seydou and Kader Attou, as well as collaborating in fashion shows (Jean-Paul Gaultier). In 2003, she created the Julie Dossavi company in Poitiers, where she developed a contemporary dance that is highly personal, hybrid and robust, sensual and plastic, all in variations of forms and rhythms. She composes intimate shows around women’s status and the phenomenon of dual culture.
Alongside choreographic works for several interpreters, Julie Dossavi explores the form of the solo danced on a stage shared with musicians or singers. Invited by the event Le Vif du sujet in 2004, she asked Daniel Larrieu to compose a solo for her, “À chaque vent le papillon se déplace sur le saule”, presented by the festivals Montpellier Danse and Paris Quartier d’été. In 2012, she presented “Cross & Share” at the Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis, where she explored a third path, that of co-composition and co-writing, uniting around a principle of shared creation, famous authors, choreographers, musicians and directors: Thomas Lebrun, Serge Aimé Coulibaly, Hamid Ben Mahi and Michel Schweizer.

Author, filmmaker and video artist Charles Picq (1952-2012) entered working life in the 70s through theatre and photography. A- fter resuming his studies (Maîtrise de Linguistique - Lyon ii, Maîtrise des sciences et Techniques de la Communication - grenoble iii), he then focused on video, first in the field of fine arts at the espace Lyonnais d'art Contemporain (ELAC) and with the group « Frigo », and then in dance.

- He promoted the creation of a video-bar and projection room, both dedicated to welcoming school pupils.
- He started «présentations de saisons» in pictures.
- He oversaw the DVD publication of Le tour du monde en 80 danses, a pocket video library produced by the Maison de la Danse for the educational sector.
- He launched the series “scènes d'écran” for television and online. He undertook the video library's digital conversion and created Numeridanse.

[1930-1960]: Neoclassicism in Europe and the United States, entirely in tune with the times
The Ballets Russes paved the way for what would become known as: neo-classical. Back then, the term “modern ballet” was frequently used to define this renewal of aesthetics: a savvy blend of tradition and innovation, which each choreographer defined in their own way.

The committed artist
In all the arts and here especially in dance, the artist sometimes creates to defend a cause, to denounce a fact, to disturb, to shock. Here is a panorama of some "committed" choreographic creations.

[1970-2018] Neoclassical developments: They spread worldwide, as well as having multiple repertoires and dialogues with contemporary dance.
In the 1970s, artists’ drive towards a new classic had been ongoing for more than a half century and several generations had already formed since the Russian Ballets. As the years went by, everyone defended or defends classical dance as innovative, unique, connected to the other arts and the preoccupations of its time.

Meeting with literature
Collaboration between a choreographer and a writer can lead to the emergence of a large number of combinations. If sometimes the choreographer creates his dance around the work of an author, the writer can also choose dance as the subject of his text.
