Yasuke Kurosan

Both plastic artist, dancer and professional choreographer, Smaïl Kanouté presents Yasuke Kurosan, The Black Samurai in Japan, his new creation inspired by the life of Yasuke Kurosan, an African slave who arrived in the land of the rising sun at the end of the 16th century. is seen exceptionally granted the status of samurai.

Smaïl Kanouté - choreographer - graphic designer - is a protean artist.
A graduate of ENSAD (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs), he is a graphic designer, screen printer, visual artist, dancer and choreographer. An artist of bubbling creativity, he is enthusiastic about any new formal challenge. Dance and graphic design are thus link from his creative process, which is thrived by artistic and cultural mixtures. The motif is the basis of his research and all new production. Also his pictorial and scenic works are recognizable by expressive motifs, a sort of modern and abstract alphabet. He is part of this young generation which renews visual and aesthetic codes, all disciplines combined.

Compagnie Vivons

The Vivons Company was created in 2016 under the leadership of dancer-choreographer-plastic artist Smaïl Kanouté. From the start, artist associated with CentQuatre - Paris, artist in residence at Mains d´Œuvres - Saint Ouen, then at Ateliers Médicis Clichy sous Bois and soon at Espace 1789 - Saint Ouen, his work is regularly scheduled in Ile de France.
