Le bal

We watch… We learn… We practice…

To round off the 2010-2011 season at the National Centre for Dance in Pantin, as festively as possible, Brigitte Seth and Roser Montlló Guberna transformed the Grand Studio of the CND into a dance floor. Their ultra-dynamically staged ball-show invited the spectators to discover and experiment tango, otro-country, Sevillanas and a host of other surprises…

Professional dancers demonstrated a few dances: ballroom (tango), popular (Sevillanas), revisited (otro-country) and imaginary (the broomstick dance). The public was invited to learn the basic dance steps. And everyone indulged themselves with pleasure! And as a way to relax… they listened to and watched the artists punctuate each dance sequence with acted, danced and sung interludes: impromptus, full of fantasy, echoing our two mixing-of-genre enthusiasts.

Lafeuille, Philippe

Philippe Lafeuille is a dancer, choreographer and director. After discovering dance through a Maurice Béjart show, he decided to enrol in a programme at the Académie Solange Golovine, and was soon dancing for a variety of choreographers such as Joseph RUSSILLO and later Peter GOSS, for whom he would perform the main plays. During his career, Philippe Philippe Lafeuille also danced with Madonna and even Rudolf NUREYEV. A multifaceted artist, each of his creations is a playing field where all genres are mixed: dance, theatre, humour, visual arts… Anything is possible!

He began his choreography career by founding CHICOS MAMBO, for whom he was the principal performer. With this first company, he did what he enjoyed the most – turning dance into comedy! Philippe Lafeuille enjoys surrounding himself with artists in his creations, not just for the lighting and sound, but also for the visual universe (sets, costumes). Among other things, for several years he has been working with the illuminator Dominique Mabileau, and the visual artist Corinne Petitpierre, who participated in the creation of "Tutu".

A generous artist, cultural activity has played an important part in his career. With the desire to make the repertoire and choreographic culture accessible, he is an Associated Artist at the Scène Nationale de Cergy-Pontoise on projects such as dance workshops in schools, amateur dance groups, etc.

Beaulieu, Nadine

Nadine Beaulieu has led her dance career abroad, in particular with the Erick Hawkins Company in New York from 1991 to 1996. Simultaneously, she was trained by Susan Klein on the “release technique” and by Lucia Dugloszewski, contemporary music composer. When she left the United States for France in 1996, she created her own company, now established in Rouen, Upper Normandy.

As a “liaison artist”, Nadine Beaulieu's approach studies bodies and systems in their intimacy, their individuality, then joins them together or creates a tension between them in a symbolic and poetic dimension. Within this framework, she has created and has been invited to create artistic projects in a variety of situations and in extremely varied forms.

She has created: “Animae tuae”, for a dancer and a voice (1996), “Au delà-dedans”, solo (1997), “Scratch & Snap”, creation for two dancers, two sonorous costumes and a voice (1998), “Pochette à deux”, for two dancers and a string quartet (2000), “Quadruplex”, for two dancers and two visual artists (2002), “In Vitro”, an event for thirteen dancers, four architects and a musician, “Densité/Dansité”, a danced and architecture event for the cultural event “Lille, European Capital of Culture” (2004), “Transparence”, for six dancers (2005), “Les Figures du corps en mouvement”, dance-video and installations (2005), “Y a-t-il quelqu'un là-dedans ?” for three performers (2006), “(IN)finNI”, for a dancer and a flutist (2008).

Nadine Beaulieu trained in classical and contemporary dance and holds a State Diploma as a contemporary dance teacher and is a national interministerial staff member for creating partnerships.
