El final de este estado de cosas, redux
When Eugenia de los Reyes, Israel Galván's mother, gave its title to this performance, the dancer's long work had come to an end. Where was its beginning: reading the biblical text, approaching it in such distinct ways (from Los zapatos rojos to Arena Israel Galván has always projected on his shows the shadow of these revelations), by studying the most extreme dances (from tarantella to butoh, and of course, flamenco). This is not to represent the complete book of Revelation, nor to show in extenso all the revelations therein. It's about reading the text, reading it as only the body of a dancer can do, embodying the verses, sentences.

Galván, Israel
Choreographer and dancer, acknowledged as the Nijinsky of flamenco, Israel Galván blends contemporary dance and traditional flamenco in his works. Born in Sevilla to flamenco dancer parents, he inevitably took an interest to this art from childhood. In 1994, he joined the Andalucia Dance Company directed by Mario Maya. Very quickly, Israel Galván stood out with his innovational and sophisticated style and in 1995, he won the Vicente Escudero Award at the National Flamenco Art Competition in Cordoba: this was to be the first in a long line of honours.
In 1998, he caused a sensation with his show “Mira! Los zapatos rojos” at the tenth Festival of Flamenco in Seville. Two years later, in partnership with Estrella Morente and Lagartica, he directed a choreography inspired by Kafka, entitled “La Metamorfosis”, then in 2002, “Galvanicas” with Gerardo Nuñez. In 2004, he was awarded the Giraldillo Prize as the best flamenco dancer for his performance given in “Arena”, a show recounting the history of bullfighting.
In 2005, Israel Galván was honoured with the National Dance Award. In 2009, “El final de este estado de cosas, redux” (inspired by a few passages from the Apocalypse), was a great success during the Montpellier Dance Festival and the Avignon Festival.
Israel Galván works with a myriad of well-known figures from the world of flamenco like Vicente Amigo, Manuela Carrasco and Mario Maya.
