Florencia Guerberof on the creation of her Animal Kingdom

This film is a short documentary that reflects the creative process during the making of my dance film for the participatory project "Animal Kingdom" by Akram Khan Company in collaboration with Numeridanse.

Guerberof, Florencia

Florencia is a dancer and visual artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina currently based in France. She is strongly inspired by "a great metaphysical fear which is at the root of all ancient theatre. *      

Having investigated Japanese Butoh among other forms of Oriental theatre, she creates a physical language drawing a force that emanates from her own presence in a conversation with the unseen.

Guerberof, Maria

Originally from Argentina, Buenos Aires, Maria has a background in philosophy and creative photography. Maria’s work as cinematographer includes the short dramas such as "Plagium"  Exec. Produced by Joe Wright (Atonement). Maria Directed and produced the short "Cry For All" which was selected for ArtWiki, 7th Berlin Biennale, having also distributed worldwide by Shorts International UK.

Currently Maria is also directing personal projects and collaborating in the media department for Asian performing arts UK: www.asianperformingartsuk.com

Her solo exhibition “Buenos Aires 2001: a culture under siege” was nominated to the award KG± at the prestigious international festival Kyotographie, Kyoto. 2018, Japan. 

In 2020, her self-published book “Kyoto’ is for sale at The Photographers Gallery bookshop in London,  Sway Gallery Paris and “Bakunen” Rare Japanese photobooks online.
