Éloge et défense de la routine
Generally, a lecture is a discourse about a specific subject, providing an enlightenment of the question being dealt with. But when the members of GRAND MAGASIN adopt this didactic format, it is highly likely that the question being raised, and the answer provided, will not follow parallel paths. Whether the theme is work, comprehension or routine, the thought of Pascale Murtin and François Hiffler adopts twists and turns, reflecting the meaning of the phrasings they use, whose mechanisms they expose with jubilation. In the performative catalogue of GRAND MAGASIN, action is structured like a language, and the activation of language triggers a taking-up of action: in unison, as a canon, their voices and bodies delve into the blind spots of language, overturn phrases, words, commas, and play on all the effects of misunderstandings. Le Sentiment de compréhension and Éloge et défense de la routine have in common their aesthetic of taking things literally and then unliterally with, in their crosshairs, the same question: “What does speaking mean?”

Centre national de la danse, Réalisation
Since 2001, the National Center for Dance (CND) has been making recordings of its shows and educational programming and has created resources from these filmed performances (interviews, danced conferences, meetings with artists, demonstrations, major lessons, symposia specialized, thematic arrangements, etc.).
Grand Magasin
« Ever since 1982 (when the GRAND MAGASIN was created), we have aimed, in spite of an almost complete lack of skills in theatre, dance and music, to produce the kind of shows we would love to see.
They have achieved this and so we find them moving.
We’d like to think that others can share our enthusiasm. »
GRAND MAGASIN was founded by Pascale MURTIN & François HIFFLER.
Murtin and Hiffler have produced together around twenty plays, shows and performances, with the occasional help from their friends.
At the dawn of the 21st century, Bettina ATALA joined them and the three of them have been working in unison to produce few shows since 2001.

Western classical dance enters the modernity of the 20th century: The Ballets russes and the Ballets suédois
If the 19th century is that of romanticism, the entry into the new century is synonymous of modernity! It was a few decades later that it would be assigned, a posteriori, the name of “neo-classical”.
The committed artist
In all the arts and here especially in dance, the artist sometimes creates to defend a cause, to denounce a fact, to disturb, to shock. Here is a panorama of some "committed" choreographic creations.

Meeting with literature
Collaboration between a choreographer and a writer can lead to the emergence of a large number of combinations. If sometimes the choreographer creates his dance around the work of an author, the writer can also choose dance as the subject of his text.
